Suburban Roads Upgrades
The Challenge: Designing for scale and speed across multiple tenders.
The Suburban Roads Upgrade was a major infrastructure initiative with simultaneous tender submissions for both the North and South packages. Each submission required extensive documentation, clear communication, and visual consistency across a wide range of assets, from diagrams and timelines to technical annexures.
With limited time and input from multiple stakeholders, the challenge was to create a tender design system that was adaptable, efficient to produce, and elevated the professionalism of the content without creating unnecessary complexity for future updates.
The Solution: A smart, modular design system with built-in effeciency.
Working closely with Executives, Managers and communications teams, I developed a flexible visual system that could carry the overarching Suburban Roads Upgrade (SRU) brand while accommodating specific project needs.
With tight timelines and a large amount of assets to design, I developed a clean, versatile tender design system that established clear hierarchy, improved production efficiency, and strengthened stakeholder confidence. A key component was the smart use of the secondary colour palette: applied consistently to diagrams and technical drawings, it allowed visual elements to be swapped seamlessly between the North and South tender submissions. This approach significantly reduced the need for double editing and maximised production efficiency without compromising design quality.

The Results
Feedback from executives confirmed it was the best-looking tender yet, proving the value of strategic government communications design.
Consistent branding across public-facing and internal communications.
Streamlined document creation through easy-to-use templates.
Improved stakeholder confidence through clearer, more unified messaging.
Praise on both the seamless design system and the elevated visual quality.
